FAQ

DO I HAVE TO DRESS UP IN A SUIT OR WEAR A DRESS?

No, you can come as you are! While some of our members prefer to wear suits and dresses, it is not required.  You can wear your jeans, T-shirt, and sneakers if you’d like. As it says in 1 Samuel 16, man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.

WHAT IS A TABERNACLE?

The “tabernacle” was essentially a portable earthy, dwelling place for God. The Israelites carried it with them in the wilderness. In Exodus 25:8-9, God instructed Moses to tell the Israelites to build this tabernacle and specified exactly how it should be designed.

WHAT DENOMINATION ARE YOU ?

Christian Tabernacle is a part of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C). COGIC is the largest Pentecostal denomination in the United States. You can find more information on COGIC beliefs here.

I HEARD OAKLAND is dangerous - IS it SAFe to go to church there?

Yes, it’s safe! We have our own security during services and we also have  the greatest protection ever – GOD!!! While we don’t ignore the dangers in our community, we do understand that God is greater than them all. He is our Protector, our Defender, our Rock, our Fortess, and our Stronghold in times of trouble.

why are you so excited?

We’re excited because we love God! He is our everything! He is the reason we exist, the reason we sing and dance, the reason we pray passionately, and the reason we come to church – we’re here to worship him and Jesus. We also love seeing each other, welcoming guests, and just genuinely want to spread the love!
